The exciting news of the day was that Keira was finally sliding down our backyard slide without a helping hand. Our backyard slide is steeper and faster than any playground slide -- in fact, if you don't slow yourself down with your feet you get launched off the bottom into the awaiting leaves. While she had mastered most of the local slides on her own, until that day she had wanted someone to hold her hand on our backyard slide. This was the beginning of her solo sliding in our backyard. She was incredibly happy and proud.
Since his sister had mastered the slide, Elijah decided to up the ante and challenge himself a little bit, too. He tried the slide with no hands.
After spending a good amount of time on our playground equipment, they moved onto sliding down our back hill on their little wagon. Riding the whole hill scared Keira a bit and Elijah continued to up the ante and attempted the hill with his eyes closed.
Next, they spent some time playing catch with a football and learning from Daddy how to throw a football correctly. All in all, it was a super fun play day outside.
