On November 7th, Elijah competed in his school's Poetry Recitation. Earlier that month, each student was required to memorize a grade appropriate poem and recite it to their class. Then, each teacher picked two students to go on to the school wide competition. Elijah was picked by Ms. Harris to move on to the school wide competition. On November 7th, Keira, Grammie, Dendi, Aunt Seana and I attended the Poetry Recitation to watch Elijah compete. When Keira and I first arrived, Elijah launched out of his seat and ran over to give his sister an unprovoked hug -- so sweet.
We were all very impressed by the patience and amazing good manners of all of the young competitors.
Keira did a fairly good job of being patient, as well, while her brother recited his Shel Silverstein poem.
Unfortunately, not everyone can win. :(
