Braves Stadium Field Trip

On October 3, 2014, Elijah and I headed to Turner Field in Atlanta for his first field trip with Connections.  One of the great things about Connections is that they like to encourage as much face-to-face interaction within the context of an online school as possible.  They feature over eighty field trips per year, all over the state.  The first one that we heard about that sounded interesting to Elijah and wasn't ridiculously far away was Turner Field.  One unexpected highlight for Elijah was playing with our umbrella.  It was rainy, and since we had a bit of a walk to the stadium I brought an umbrella.  I usually never bring an umbrella, as our hoods usually suffice, so Elijah thought that it was an incredibly interesting toy.  He spent plenty of time opening, closing and playing with it as we waited for our tour to start in the morning, and again while we waited for the tour to start up again after going through museum.

After going through the museum, we were treated to a behind the scenes tour.

The tour culminated with a tour of the field and the dugout.  My silly boy was a little tired of posing, but he indulged me as long as he could include some crazy faces in the mix.

Dendi and Bapa were kind enough to babysit Keira so that Elijah could enjoy a little special Mommy time.  When we came to pick her up she was reading Hop on Pop to them on the back porch swing.

Before we left, Keira tried on the giant Braves shirt that we brought her from the field trip.  As you can see, it was a little big for her.
