At Home with Keira

By late September, Scott and Elijah's school years were in full swing.  While Keira was attending preschool, it was only three days a week for three hours each day.  Therefore, Keira and I had plenty of time together.  Keira spent a lot of her day creating her own imaginary games in the playroom.  We have a very well stocked play room, and she diligently works her way around the room playing with each and every toy.   It think she covers all of its contents every two weeks. Usually she settles on something to play with, invents a game with a complete plot, narrates the game and often sings about her game, too.  I love working in the kitchen and just listening to her happy playing sounds while I do the dishes or cook.  Keira also likes to play board games like Hi Ho Cherry O, Princess BINGO, Princess Memory, Trouble and Candy Land.  Additionally, she likes to play card games like War and Go Fish.  Puzzles and being read to are two other favorites.  And, like all of us, Keira loves her pets.  She seems to be especially partial to Disney who is always gentle and ready for love and attention.

Keira also spends many happy hours drawing and coloring.  Sometimes her creations turn into books.  Keira discovered a new angle to her artistic side last September when we pulled out the face paints.  I had tried them before with her, but it was never very successful until last September. One afternoon she sat and patiently drew all over both of my legs.  It was a hit, and Daddy was impressed with her work and took our picture when he got home from school.  Of course, every photo is more complete with the addition of a pirate hook and a baby tiger.  ;)
